
In July of 1944, Eunice Idella Wilson received her license to Embalm and in July 1945 she received her license as a Funeral Director from the State of Florida Department of Professional Regulations.
Because of her dedication to her community and mankind, Eunice has received numerous awards and citations for dedicated service and community involvement. She was the first to receive the "Morticians of the Year Award" in 1980 from the Fourth Regional District of the Florida Morticians Association, Inc. first Honoree for the Florida Morticians Association; 1986 Outstanding Member Award from the Alpha Gamma Chapter - Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity - Florida, Georgia and Alabama; received recognition in 1995 from the Florida Funeral Directors Association for fifty years of service (the first Africian American to receive the award) and the 1999 Golden Achievement Award from the Florida Morticians Association for service in the Florida Morticians Association for service in the funeral industry; recipient of the 2000 Brotherhood Award from the City of Sanford Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Steering Committee; 2001 - 2002 Honored Professional in the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professional Edition; received recognition and honors in 2001 from the 100 Black Women in Funeral Services; presented the Georgetown Community Award in 2002 from the City of Sanford Police Department; presented the 2003 Isis Award for fifty years of dedicated service to Malta Court No. 99 Daughter of Isis; recipient of the fifty years of dedicated service to Malta Court No. 99 Daughter of Isis; recipent of the 2006 Fifty Year Membershio Recognition Award from the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, Inc; the 2007 Academy Courage Award from the 100 Black Women in Funeral Services; honored by the City of Sanford Arbor Day Committee 2008 at the Bentley-Wilson Children's Park.
Eunice is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sanford, FL. She serves as Trustee and actively participates in all areas of the ministry.
Under Eunice's wise and trusted counsel, Eunice provided guidance to her three professional 'sons' - Bernard D. Mitchell (Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary, Inc. - Sanford, FL), Kenneth E. Mitchell (Mitchell's Funeral Home, Orlando, FL) and Alexander C. Wynn, III (R.J. Gainous Funeral Home - Daytona Beach, FL; Gainous-Wynn Funeral Home, Inc. New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Gail & Wynn's Mortuary, Inc. Orlando, Fl.) Bernard D. Mitchell and Alexander C. Wynn, III served their apprenticeship under Ms. Wilson.
